This morning, Monday, June 16, the Libyan Business Council participated in a specialized workshop on exports and transit trade. The event was held at the headquarters of the Social Development Council, jointly organized by the National Economic Planning Council and the Libyan Industry Federation, with the participation of several representatives from government agencies, economic institutions, and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Libyan Business Council was represented at the workshop by Mr. Said Wanis, a board member of the council and a member of the Economic Committee of the High Council of State. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of boosting Libyan exports as one of the fundamental pillars for diversifying national income sources and reducing dependence on oil revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He highlighted Libya\u2019s economic capabilities and competitive advantages, which qualify it to develop numerous exportable industries and products at competitive production costs. This presents genuine opportunities to enter regional and international markets, provided that a supportive legislative and investment environment is available for production and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also addressed Libya’s strategic geographical location and the significant opportunity it offers to develop transit trade and logistics services, especially given Libya’s connection to its African depth and the potential to benefit from trade flows directed toward landlocked African countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop featured several interventions and discussions addressing the challenges facing the export sector and ways to develop the legislative and logistical infrastructure supporting trade.
