In the presence of members of the Board of Directors and Executive Management, several businessmen and directors of companies interested in supply, re-export, and food companies.
In this light, a range of issues related to economic conditions and their impact on Ramadan prices and commodities were discussed.
The attendees found it necessary to follow up on administrative procedures with the competent authorities to overcome difficulties for companies and suppliers in maintaining the stability of the local market.

The meeting was held on Tuesday, 2024/02/20, as part of the British Council’s visit to several Libyan cities from February 19-21. between women and businessmen of the two countries interested in economic and trade relations, Mr. Al Motasem Bellah Dhawi, Executive Director of the Council, opened with a welcome speech, It emphasized the strengthening of ties between the two councils, the importance of operationalizing what was agreed at the founding meeting in 2004 and the memorandum of understanding signed in 2006, and the establishment of an appropriate mechanism for joint action.
Mr. Peter Millett, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan British Council, participated and thanked the Libyan Business Owners’ Council for the opportunity to meet. To ensure a positive reception and interest in pursuing cooperation between the two councils, he stressed the importance of continuing these meetings to strengthen the bonds of collaboration. Ms. Catherine Wilde, Deputy British Ambassador to Libya, also participated. In a speech praising the development and growth of trade with Libya to reach 10 percent over the past two years, of the total $1.700 billion of British exports abroad, a good figure in the context of trade transactions between the two countries.
A range of issues of common interest were discussed, including:
- Cooperation in the areas of banking and oil services.
- – Tourism and real estate investment.
- – Vocational and technical education and training.
- – Addressing the problems facing the movement of businessmen between the two countries.
The parties agreed to continue these meetings and to develop a work program for a series of meetings among businesspeople interested in the discussion.
The meeting was attended by key figures from the British side, including Mr. Robin Lamb, Executive Director of the British Libyan Council, and Mr. Charlie Garnett, Regional Director of the Egypt-Libya Office of the British Ministry of Labour and Trade.
