On the evening of Monday, June 16, the Libyan Business Council and the Libyan-Indonesian Council participated in a dinner hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to Libya. The event was attended by His Excellency the Indonesian Ambassador and several Libyan business owners interested in and operating within the Indonesian market. The gathering aimed to promote upcoming economic and trade events organized by Indonesia, most notably the Food Expo scheduled for next September and the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) set to take place in October.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Indonesian Ambassador invited Libyan business owners to seize the opportunities provided by these exhibitions to introduce Libyan products and open new markets for them. Expressing interest in several promising Libyan products—chiefly dates and olive oil—the Ambassador emphasized the importance of active participation in the Food Expo and forming direct partnerships and commercial deals with Indonesian companies.

The meeting also featured a discussion on several challenges facing Libyan suppliers in their dealings with the Indonesian market, including financial transfer difficulties, price fluctuations, and long shipping durations, as well as ways to mitigate the impact of these challenges to help grow trade exchange between the two nations.

In the same context, the executive management of the Libyan Business Council reviewed the key achievements made recently to support Libyan-Indonesian economic relations. Foremost among these was the establishment of the Libyan-Indonesian Council, which aims to enhance communication between the business communities of both countries, resolve issues facing suppliers and importers, and develop opportunities for joint cooperation and investment.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the project to establish a permanent Indonesian exhibition in Tripoli, which will be overseen by the Indonesian side with support from the Indonesian Embassy and in partnership with the Libyan Business Council. This project is expected to facilitate Libyan business owners’ access to Indonesian products and commercial offers, enabling direct communication with companies and manufacturers, thereby saving time and effort while boosting the efficiency of trade operations between both sides.

The Council highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Indonesian side, which encompasses cooperation in facilitating trade exchange, technical training, health services, and the oil and gas sector, alongside efforts to support bilateral economic relations and open new horizons for cooperation between private sector institutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the executive management of the Libyan Business Council invited business owners and individuals interested in the Indonesian market to join the Libyan-Indonesian Council and benefit from the programs, activities, and services it offers to support trade and investment relations between Libya and Indonesia.
