Tuesday 30 November The Libyan Businessmen Council met with an Algerian economic and commercial delegation, in the presence of the President of the Federation of Algerian Chambers of Commerce, the President of the Algerian Saharan Investment Fund, and a large number of owners and representatives of the Algerian private sector companies in the fields of the food industry, medicine, energy, oil, electronic services, technology and contracting. The delegation was received by the President of the Libyan Businessmen Council, the Executive Director of the Council, the President of the Council’s Branch in the South, and several Council members. Where the President of the Council welcomed the guest delegation and emphasized the depth and distinction of relations between Libya and Algeria and the need to consolidate and enhance cooperation between the private sector in both countries, And the steps were taken by the Council during its participation in the Libyan-Algerian Economic Forum, which led to a cooperation agreement and the establishment of the joint Libyan-Algerian Business Council between the Council of Libyan Businessmen and the Algerian Confederation of Public Enterprises.
He stressed the Council’s openness to any proposals for cooperation in the interest of the national economy of the two countries. The attendees also touched on the importance of investment in the south, especially in the agricultural and industrial fields. In this context, the head of the council branch in the south stressed their welcome and immediate readiness to contract and cooperate in establishing several projects with the Algerian side, which expressed its willingness to work and participate with the private sector in the Libyan south. During the meeting, several partnerships, cooperation, and investment projects were presented. The attendees also discussed practical steps to open the border crossings between the two countries and the agreement signed between the Libyan and Algerian sides regarding the opening of a direct flight line between the two countries. The two sides touched on the facilities and competitive prices for Algerian goods provided by the Algerian delegation, and the commercial exchange between the two countries.
